Palm Oil is a staple ingredient in cold process soap making, prized for its ability to create hard, long-lasting bars with rich lather and bubbles. Palm oil is extracted from the pulp of the fruit of the oil palm Elaeis guineensis. It is then refined to produce the creamy-white solid vegetable oil that we are familiar with in the UK. Widely used in soap-making, this oil is high in Palmitic acid, adding hardness to bar soaps and will also help to add longevity to the lather, especially when combined with coconut, palm kernel or babassu oils.
